Course Aim
The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical and practical knowledge for correct signalling and slinger. This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, and other relevant statutory provisions.

Theory

Practical
- Carry out a risk assessment of the task to be undertaken
- Ensure the working area is appropriately cordoned off
- Carry out pre-use checks to ensure the lifting accessories are in a safe condition
- Agree and use the signal code with lifting equipment operator and others who are involved in the operation
- Sling various loads using a variety of methods and lifting accessories
- Set down various loads at pre-determined positions
- Carry out checks on all lifting accessories used
- Complete report sheet on any defects found
- Return to storage all equipment and accessories used

All other materials are provided on the course.
Testing & Certification
At the end of this course the standard ITSSAR practical and theoretical test where possible will be conducted for the equipment. This is the current recognised and recommended standards practical operators test. Operators are issued with an encapsulated wallet and full sized certificate. Companies are issued with an A4 sized certificate, the trainees’ original practical and theoretical test marking sheet, course record and written trainee report where appropriate, as proof of training.
